Sun Damage Reduction

Overview of IPL Treatment (Intense Pulsed Light)

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatment is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure that uses high-intensity pulses of visible light to address various skin concerns. IPL works on the principle of selective photothermolysis, targeting specific chromophores in the skin, such as melanin (for pigmentation) and hemoglobin (for blood vessels). The light energy is converted into heat, effectively treating a range of skin issues without damaging the surrounding tissues.

What skin concerns does IPL treat?

  • IPL can treat various pigmentation issues, such as sunspots, age spots, and freckles.
  • It can treat skin redness and visible blood vessels associated with conditions like rosacea and spider veins.
  • The anti-inflammatory properties of IPL make it effective in managing acne and improving skin texture.
  • IPL is widely used for long-term hair reduction, know as “Laser Hair Removal”

Will I experience downtime?

IPL treatments usually have minimal downtime. Clients may experience temporary redness, swelling, or mild discomfort, which generally subsides within a day or two. Clients may also experience “peppering” where the device has lifted pigment. This will gradually and gently shed over a week or two. Sun protection is crucial pre & post-treatment! IPL is typically not performed in the hot summer months.

*IPL is not suitable for all skin types, please consult a treatment provider for more information.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of required sessions varies based on the specific skin concern being addressed. Typically, a series of treatments spaced a few weeks apart are recommended for optimal results.
