Summer has arrived with a splash!

At Splendid Skin, we love the summer months. Our favorite summer activities include vacations to the beach, hanging on the lake, and hiking trips. However, as much as we love being outside, our skin does not always love the sun. We must continue to give our skin the care that it needs, especially during these hot, summer months.

What we apply topically can help protect our skin from harmful UV rays. At Splendid Skin, we offer a variety of sunscreen options. Our mineral-based sunscreens help to deflect UV rays and act as a physical barrier for added protection. We offer both tinted and untinted options. Reapplying sunscreen is essential. The general rule of thumb is to reapply every 80-90 minutes and every time you get out of the water. At the end of the day, we love to use the EltaMD Oil-in-Gel cleanser. This cleanser is specifically designed to remove water-resistant sunscreen and long-wear makeup. SkinBetter Alto Defense and Repair Serum is the perfect morning serum. This serum combines Vitamins C and E plus 17 additional antioxidants to help protect against free radicals from the sun. This will help to prevent unwanted sun damage. Lastly, the SkinBetter Trio Balancing Moisture Treatment is an amazing, lightweight moisturizer that helps to hydrate and bring suppleness back to the skin.

There are multiple treatments that are safe and effective even during the summer months. With no downtime, you are able to have glowing skin for all of your summer vacations. Our top summer treatment recommendations include Laser Genesis, Sofwave, and Rejuvenate (Oxygen) Facials. The Laser Genesis treatment, also called “Laser Facial”, uses a 1064 nm laser to deliver a controlled heat deeper into the skin. This heat helps to build collagen, control circulation, and kill acne bacteria on the skin. It is our go-to treatment for people suffering from rosacea or red undertones to their skin. Sofwave is a non-invasive device used for skin tightening. This ultrasound-based device is FDA-approved for lifting the eyebrows, jowls, submental region, and neck tissue.
